Hey actors!!
Do any of these questions resonate with you?
-
Do you feel like there’s too much to do and never enough time?
-
Perhaps you’re worried that you may end up as “one of those failed actors”, never to achieve your goals?
-
Do you ever feel too overwhelmed or unmotivated to take action toward your acting career?
-
Does having a stable life seem unattainable to you?
-
Do you wish you could be happier and more content with your life?
-
Do you feel like your life and career are out of balance?
-
Are you frustrated with your progress?
I ask these questions because I asked the same questions too! I’ve been there! I wanted nothing more than to put down my tray and pick up a microphone. Listen–I want to assure you that feeling this way is normal. It’s common. These are the number one issues that actors I work with share as their biggest issues! I have a solution for these problems. There is a way out of this continual cycle of beating yourself up and getting nowhere. There is a different way. My name is Leigh Cambre and I am the Actor Breakthrough Coach.
Every time I talk to Leigh, I get clear on what I want and what I need to accomplish…and then my life unfolds before me. I am constantly having aha moments, which in turn become specific tasks toward what I really desire. And, as if by magic, paying gigs, support systems, and friends show up just a simple consequence of my actions. For example, I booked three new voiceover jobs for the IRS, TJ Maxx, and Marshall’s AND a TV pilot within 6 weeks of working with Leigh. I was already playing a big game in my life but I couldn’t have done it by myself. Having a teammate makes a huge difference… Leigh is that for me and much more. His commitment to greatness is unmatchable and he has the rare ability to turn every single situation into a hilariousLeigh fun learning experience!! -Daya Mendez
It’s completely understandable why you would feel out of sync. You’ve been told since you began that being an actor is HARD. You’re expected to get up early (extra early if you’re non-union) and attend every audition right for you. If there are multiple auditions you’re right for, you better show up at each and every one of them because you never know which may be right for you. Don’t forget your music, your tap shoes, your dance clothes, your sides, your auditions, your headshots, your resumes, your make-up, your change of outfit, your backpack, and your business cards. You have to be prepared to reschedule your day if you get a callback! You never know when that might happen. Now that you’re auditioning is done, time to get to work! You have to meet with your acting coach, singing teacher, dancing instructor, monologue coach, and your audition coach. And then you need to attend acting classes and meet and greets, because how are you ever going to get representation (or get better representation)? Then, of course, when you get home, time to do mailings. Have I stayed in contact enough with that casting director? Did I call my manager? Do I need new headshots? Oh, I better read all of the trade magazines and stay up to date. Tonight, I better go see some shows too, so I can stay up to date! I forgot to go to the gym! On top of all of that, you still need to pay your bills! So, now it’s time for your sideline job! 40 hours of that on TOP of all that needs to be done for your career. Sleep? Meals? What are those? Now time to start again.
No wonder you’re overwhelmed, discouraged, and feeling out of balance! There is a way to fix all of this!
To solve these problems, here is what needs to happen:
- First, start by stepping outside of the box. When you’re in the box, you can’t see anything but the box. Take a step out, then step forward another 5 steps. Only then should you turn around and see the box you consistently live in. This serves two purposes. First, it will allow you to remember that you truly can start from the ground up. Secondly, you’ll get what I call a meta-view of your situation in life.
- I recommend you take the Actor Breakthrough Assessment. This is a 20-minute assessment that will provide you with a second layer of insight into your energy level and where you resonate. You’ll be given a tangible, ordered list of your energies on paper, including what your default levels, how this causes you to interact with the world, and what can be done to improve your energy level.
- I will be walking you through the Actor Breakthrough Assessment during our one-on-one debrief, personalized for you. We will discover together how you approach the world affects not only yourself, but those around you, which may be the biggest factor for you getting or not booking a job.
- Spend some time going over your values and what’s important to you. I have a thorough values finding process that digs deep into your psyche to find what your true desires are. In addition, we will look at balance in a very real way. Using my specialized Wheel of Life, you will find out how balanced you are and where you can focus your energies to grow.
- It is crucial to have your big vision clearly developed. From that, we will create your small goals list and start to lay out the path toward what it takes to become a working actor.
- At this stage, we will create a new world for you to live in. We will design a place that is clutter-free, organized, and relaxing. We will know this is accomplished because you will feel relaxed each and every time you begin your acting work.
- Now that all of your systems are in place, it is time to get out there in a big way. You cannot become a working actor if you are a secret. I have specific, actor-focused methods for starting to make your name known so that others will truly start to know your name.
- Finally, we will establish your patterns so that you can run your business like a well-oiled machine. No need to worry about if you’ve contacted your agent enough or if you’ve gone to the gym yet. It will all fit into your new lifestyle, fast forwarding your career to the next level. All of this in a relaxed and open way.
These are the steps I go through with every actor to get them from beat up to a full speed ahead target. Getting guidance and support along this journey would make complete sense. Why would you want to go at this alone? I am here to assist and happy to do so!

How did I get to being the Actor Breakthrough Coach?
Here’s my story: I came to New York City, certain I’d be famous in about a year. I acquired professional headshots, had them analyzed by a consultant, and received expert retouching. I got coaches galore: vocal, dancing, acting, auditioning–you name it! I went to audition after audition after audition. I found opportunities to take classes for free. I put myself in front of decision makers such as casting directors, agents, and producers. I sang. I danced. And once, I even pretended to run into a wall for a callback. Why was I not booking anything?
Don’t get me wrong–I had moderate success. I averaged three gigs per year. And that’s above average! Actor’s Equity reports that fewer than 15% of its due paying members work during any week. And a SAG member’s average annual income is less than $12,840. So what is a person to do?
After 5 years in New York City, it hit me: I may not be going about this the right way. I’ve always had a passion for coaching, but my desire to be a performer consistently outweighed it, so I never took it seriously. That fifth year, on a hunch, I finally decided to get my certification from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) for Whole Life Coaching and started an accountability partnership with a close friend of mine who was also in the entertainment industry. Within 6 months, I went from feeling defeated and having frustration with my performing business, hating auditions, and no creative opportunities in my calendar to having my own paid weekly talk show (called absoluteLEIGHtv–check it out!), being appreciated and promoted in all of my jobs, having more success in a sideline career I enjoy (my coaching practice), and making more money than I’ve ever made in my LIFE!
That’s why I am excited to offer my coaching services. I found the keys to creative success and I am more than thrilled to be sharing them with you. I have been sharing this techniques with many like-minded people (even some non-performers) and they have been letting me know this works! Look at these testimonials:

I used to be completely unconfident in my ability to move forward in my career, and even uncertain that I had made the right choice of careers. Since being coached by Leigh, I identified my strengths, renewed my confidence in my skills, and took active steps to make progress in my career. This resulted in positive job responses and job offers. –Gabe Beck
